Teenager dies after Birmingham collision

A teenage girl died after being knocked down by a car in Birmingham today.

Paramedics and police were called to the Coventry Road in Yardley, outside the New Inn pub at around 12.30am.

A Renault Clio, driven by an 18-year-old woman from Solihull, was driving towards Birmingham when the vehicle was in collision with a pedestrian who was in the road at the time.

The pedestrian, a 19-year-old woman from Birmingham, had serious head injuries, she was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Clio and two passengers sustained minor injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Chris Kowlaik said: “Two passengers in the car had arm and back injuries. They were both immobilised.”
