More than 130 people have been treated for injuries and 19 arrested at the V Festival, it was revealed today.

Injuries have ranged from a reveller falling on a tent peg and hurting their eye to broken bones.

More than 85,000 people are expected at Weston Park over the weekend to see headliners Kasabian and Kings of Leon.

Thousands arrived at the stately home yesterday with traffic queues stretching back more than eight miles on the M54 last night.

West Midlands Ambulance Service Chris Kowalik said 136 people had visited the  centre for a range of injuries and conditions.

He said: “These included overindulgence in food and drink.”

Staffordshire Police today said 19 people had been arrested for offences including theft, assault and drunken behaviour. A further 53 people have been cautioned for drug possession and 10 crimes have been reported which mainly involve thefts from tents.
