A Willenhall pork pie factory was damaged in a fire early today.

Firefighters were called to T.C. Morris Ltd in Walsall Street at about 5.15am after an oven turned on by a timer set fire to "fatty deposits".

The fire then spread to the roof of the building.

Watch commander Andy Morgan said the factory could have been destroyed if the fire had been reported any later.
