Wolvestock’s a thrill for country music fans
Monday 26th July 2010, 11:30AM BST.
Cowboy hats, frilly skirts and camping chairs transformed a Black Country beauty spot as thousands of country music fans hot-footed it to Wolverhampton for an annual festival.
More than 15,000 people from across the country flocked to East Park over the weekend for Wolvestock, the UK’s biggest free country musical festival.
Thousands danced and cheered while basking in glorious sunshine at the 16th festival, which saw more than 100 acts take to the stage. Among those at the event was Sue and Bob Jones.
The pair never miss a year at Wolvestock and said this year’s event was “absolutely brilliant”. Last year council bosses said they wanted to start charging a £20 entrance fee. But the plans were scrapped after a 2,000-name petition.
