First picture of murder victim Charles Kelly released

The family of murdered Oldbury father-of-six Charles Kelly, who was stabbed on the doorstep, today released this picture to encourage witnesses to come forward.

Mr Kelly died from multiple stab wounds. He was found outside his home in Marshall Road just before 10pm and pronounced dead at City Hospital.

It is believed the 57-year-old carpenter had just returned from The George pub on the night of the attack. He had lived in the street for nearly 30 years with his wife Marlene and children.

Tomorrow morning uniformed officers and officers from the force criminal investigation department will be carrying out an anniversary visit to the scene of the attack, where they will be speaking to residents to see if they have any information which could help the investigation.

Two men aged 50 and 40 years have been arrested in connection with Mr Kelly’s murder. They have both been bailed.

Chief Inspector Sarbjit Johal said: “We will be visiting Marshall Road tomorrow morning in an attempt to try and gather more information a week on from the incident. Somebody must have seen something that could be crucial to the investigation.”

Officers working on the investigation can be contacted on 0345 113 5000.
