Former Slade guitarist Dave Hill has suffered a stroke while on tour in Germany.

The Black Country rock legend, who lives in Lower Penn, fell ill after performing in a show with fellow 70s band Sweet.

He was taken to hospital where he has made a full recovery, according to his manager Abbie Carter.

Two gigs in Sweden and Switzerland, scheduled for this week, were cancelled. He is expected to fly home this weekend.

Miss Carter said: "We flew out on Saturday and he did the first show. But after coming off stage he complained of feeling ill.

"We took him to hospital and doctors diagnosed a very mild stroke. Dave's made a full recovery and is doing absolutely fine. We'd just like to reassure his many fans back home that he's okay and fully intends to continue performing."

The 64-year-old grandfather moved to Wolverhampton with his parents from Devon when he was one.
