Travellers set up camp at Lea Manor Hotel site
Tuesday 29th June 2010, 11:30AM BST.
Travellers have set up camp on the site of a former hotel near Wolverhampton for the second time since it went up for sale.
Councillors were today calling for the former Lea Manor Hotel on the A464 Telford to Wolverhampton Road at Albrighton, to be made more secure.
Albrighton parish councillor Malcolm Pate said: “Precautions should be taken so that this does not happen again.
“It is against planning regulations for them to set up camp there. The owners should be made responsible for keeping the site clear.”
He said he had reported it to Shropshire County Council, which was investigating.
The hotel was built by late Wolverhampton businessman Robert Eaton, who sold it in 1986. In 2007, the site had a £1 million price tag but it has been on the market for more than two years.
In January this year, five caravans were set up at the site before being moved on by the council.
