A 20-year-old man accused of spying on a woman as she got changed at a leisure centre in Cradley Heath appeared at Warley Magistrates Court.

Nathan Kirby, of Saltwells Road, Netherton, Dudley, denies voyeurism at Haden Hill Leisure Centre.

He is alleged to have peeped under and over a cubicle wall as a female swimmer got undressed in the mixed-sex changing village at the Barrs Road complex.

A trial will now be held at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

A preliminary committal hearing will take place at Warley Magistrates Court again on August 23. Kirby, who appeared in a black suit, white shirt and black tie, spoke only to give his name, age and address during yesterday’s hearing. He was flanked released on unconditional bail.

Haden Hill’s £700,000 communal changing village – which includes mixed-sex shower and locker areas, as well as private cubicles – has been at the centre of controversy since it opened earlier this year.

Many users have complained about the lack of privacy and said they feel exposed. But Sandwell Leisure Trust said the set-up is widely endorsed by the leisure industry.
