Lichfield teenager dies in accident

A teenager died after his car left the road and smashed into a lamp post today.

And a second driver was seriously hurt in a separate accident when his car demolished a wall.

The 19-year-old from Clifton Campville, near Lichfield, was driving an orange Fiat Punto that left the road near to the Castle Hotel and hit a lamp post in Tame Drive, Tamworth, just after midnight.

He was taken to Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield, but died of his injuries.

Witnesses are being requested to contact Tamworth police on 0300 123 4455.

The other motorist suffered a serious head injury after the Rover MGF he was driving struck a wall outside a house near to Handsworth Rugby Club in Birmingham Road, Walsall at 8.50 last night.
