Wolverhampton aims to be put on the region’s fashion map when a special event celebrating style in the city gets under way next month.

City retailers and local style experts are joining forces for a weekend of beauty, style and fashion – which is free to shoppers.

During June 19 and 20 there will be fashion shows, beauty makeovers and hair demonstrations and a host of other activities across the city.

The stylish extravaganza is being coordinated by Wolverhampton City Centre Company and sponsored by Network West Midlands along with the city’s two principal shopping centres, the Wulfrun Centre and the Mander Centre, which will also host activities.

The event has the backing of many of the city’s leading fashion and beauty retailers such as House of Fraser, Dorothy Perkins, Bhs, Marks & Spencer, Wallis, New Look, Peacocks and Primark.

Accessories will be provided by Specsavers, Hinds Jewellers and Bags of Luggage.

Live events include catwalk shows, hair styling demonstrations courtesy of Francesco Group and Zaks Hairdressing and beauty treatments from City of Wolverhampton students,

Boots and House of Fraser. Catwalk shows by major fashion retailers will take place throughout each day, while there will also be a fashion show by university students and a bridal catwalk show, providing tips on how to look a million dollars on your big day.

Kim Gilmour, Wolverhampton’s city centre manager, said she hoped the event would be a great showcase for the city’s stores an hair and beauty experts and hoped it would be a big hit with shoppers.

“We have a retail offer to be extremely proud of in our city and teaming up with a range of stores and local fashion experts allows us to showcase this offer to a wide and varied audience,” she said.

“We are finalising an exciting programme of activities to help people get the hottest looks in time for summer.
