Gymnastics world champion Beth Tweddle will visit Cannock to officially open a new gym.

The 25-year-old will open Birches Valley Gymnastics Club’s new base at Cedars Business Centre in Avon Road on Sunday, June 20.

She will also coach some of the club’s 200 members on the day.

The club was based in the sports hall at Kingsmead Technology College in Hednesford, and moved to the newly-equipped gym last month.

It has been running since 1991 and members are aged four to 15.

The opening ceremony will be members only and the club competition squad will be giving a demonstration.

A public open day will be held at the gym on Saturday, June 26, from 2 to 4pm for youngsters to try out the new equipment.
