Driver crashes into own home
Wednesday 19th May 2010, 7:00PM BST.
A driver had an amazing escape after his new BMW smashed into the front of his detached home in Dudley early today.
The crash demolished the bay window and part of the brickwork but the driver emerged unscathed.
Neighbours in Chesterfields Drive, Kingswinford, alerted the emergency services just after midnight.
The driver, thought to be in his 50s, was checked by paramedics at the scene.
Neighbour Raymond Kirkham was woken by the sound of the crash.
He said: “The whole of the front of the BMW had smashed through his wall and brought the window down on top of the car.”
Firefighters from Brierley Hill checked the house was structurally safe before removing the car, a two-year-old 3 series.
Watch commander Dave Foley said it was five feet inside the living room.
A man was later arrested and was today helping police with inquiries.
