Man in fight for life after attack

A busy Black Country bus station was sealed off today after an attack which left a man fighting for his life.

Passengers were turned away from Stourbridge bus station which was taped off along with a nearby Foster Street subway. Police today said they were investigating an early morning attack on a 20-year-old man who was today in a critical condition in hospital.

Warehouse worker Terry Shepherd, aged 55, of High Street, Amblecote, was shocked to find the area sealed off as he was on his way to work in Birmingham today. “There were no buses in or out of the station. The whole area was taped off and police officers were on duty,” he said.

“There was no information about what was going on. All we were told is that there had been an incident overnight.”

Office worker Ben Lammas, a father-of-one aged 31, said: “No one was able to get into either the bus station and buses were being diverted.”

Buses were today being allowed to pick up passengers near the station in Foster Street East.
