Action call on yob-hit disused pub
Friday 23rd April 2010, 11:29AM BST.
A disused Stourport pub has become a magnet for late-night boozers and vandalism, it is claimed.
The New Manor, in Minster Road, closed six months ago but the car park, outside garages and the building have not been secured.
Residents say the site is an eyesore and are now calling on the owners, Punch Taverns, to take action.
Drinkers gather on the car park late at night and rubbish has been dumped around the site, they say.
Councillor David Millis, representative for Mitton, said the town’s Community Action group has recently held a litter pick there.
He said more than 20 bags of rubbish had been collected from the pub site. He said: “There were some items we did not have the resources to deal with and the problem is continuing.”
Punch Taverns spokeswoman Leila Maia said :”We will seek to address this issue as quickly as possible and would like to thank the councillor for bringing this to our attention. The pub is up for sale. We will endeavour to remove all rubbish and improve security.”
