Fears of litter at outlet on pub site
Monday 29th March 2010, 11:30AM BST.
Residents have hit out at plans to turn a former Black Country pub into a fast food takeaway.
Dudley Council has approved a planning application to turn the derelict White Horse pub in Coseley into a fast food outlet and restaurant.
But residents living close to the old pub building have branded the proposal a “nightmare”. Windows on the former pub building, on the junction of Upper Ettingshall Road and Hurst Road, have been boarded up after vandal attacks.
Mr Abdul Malik made the successful application for the building and has up to three years to begin building work.
But residents claim the road junction is an accident blackspot and that traffic problems will be made worse by the restaurant development.
Hurst Road residents Jayne and Duncan Fellows objected to the proposal.Mr Fellows said: “We are concerned not only about increased noise from the premises, but noise from vehicle engines, vehicle stereos, slamming car doors and people congregating on the car park, both during and outside of opening hours.
“As with other residents, we have concerns about litter and food waste attracting vermin.”Mr Malik was unavailable for comment.¨
