Cannabis grower gets jail

Saturday 27th March 2010, 11:30AM GMT.

A debt-ridden building worker who let his house be turned into a cannabis “factory” has been jailed for 21 months.

Police found two bedrooms at the home of plasterer Satie Gwilliam had “full blown” cannabis-growing set ups, Stafford crown court heard yesterday.

Inside were a total of 28 cannabis plants that could have produced annual harvests worth £30,000 on the streets.

Mr Robert Price, prosecuting, said the illicit drug cultivation was discovered when officers went to the house in Featherstone, near Wolverhampton, on September 27 last year to arrest Gwilliam on a totally unrelated matter.

After forced entry in to the premises they found the defendant inside, but then noticed hydroponic equipment used for cannabis growing.
