Faith man ‘in threat of ghost’

A woman has told a court how she feared for her safety after an alleged bogus faith healer threatened to send a ghost to attack her home.

Niem Mohammed told the woman from Wolverhampton that a powerful ghost, or ‘jinn’, would break down her home and ruin her life if she did not pay him £1,800, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

She contacted him to rid herself of headaches, health and family issues.

The woman told the jury that she had seen an advert for Mohammed’s alias Peer Sayed Sahib in a newspaper, guaranteeing to people that he could fix any love, work or health problem within a week.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the court she paid £100 for an initial consultation with Mohammed, before sending off another £500 and then a cheque for £1,300.

She stopped when he demanded another £1,800.

Speaking through an interpreter, she said: “He said someone had cast a black magic spell. He said that my problems were so bad I would need to spend more money.

“I said I wasn’t going to pay the money and he began shouting and swearing at me, I was so scared I dropped the phone.

“He said he would send a jinn to break my house, destroy my family, my life. But I knew if I paid he would keep asking for more money.”

Officers from trading standards raided Mohammed’s home in Cheshire with police on July 14 2008.

Trading standards officer Karen Ward told the court he answered ‘no comment’, to all her questions in interview.Mohammed, of Altrincham Road, Wilmslow, Cheshire, denies 15 charges of fraud, blackmail, obtaining property by deception and procuring the execution of valuable security by deception.

The trial continues.
