Woman is sentenced over cannabis

A supermarket worker who grew dozens of cannabis plants at her home in Walsall has been spared a prison sentence.

Drugs grown by Sylvia Campbell, aged 38, were discovered when police searched her house following a separate investigation.Inside, they found two “tent-like structures” which had plants growing in soil.

Officers found 41 plants in the tents and another 19 in a cupboard.Campbell, of Union Street, Chuckery, said the drugs were for personal use and she took cannabis to ease the pain from a knee operation.

Judge Martin Walsh gave her a 26 week prison sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered her to do 180 hours of unpaid community work.Campbell, who admitted production of cannabis, was also told to pay £250 costs.
