New display of the Staffordshire Hoard

Previously unseen treasures from the Staffordshire Hoard are set to go on show as the Anglo-Saxon gold returns to Birmingham next Saturday.

Around 60 items, many of which have not yet been on show, will be displayed at the city centre Museum and Art Gallery.

The items include decorative plaques in the shape of eagles and a golden duck’s head. At the weekend the total number of people who have visited the collection at the museum in Stoke-on-Trent topped 50,000.
