Sue snaps up chance to be poster star
Friday 26th February 2010, 11:30AM GMT.
An aspiring photographer from Wolverhampton is snap happy after her work was unveiled on billboards across the city.
Sue Angus won a Yellow Pages competition to capture an iconic image of Wolverhampton that best showed off the city.
Her winning shot, an image of St Peter’s Church in the city centre, is now part of the Yellow Pages advertising campaign.
The company was keen to find out what local residents saw as their most iconic landmark in Wolverhampton.
Mother-of-three Mrs Angus, of Penn, said: “I’m an amateur artist so I always carry my camera with me.
“I was really delighted to win this competition. There are 12 of these advertising boards around the city – so far I have found four. It’s been quite a talking point.”
The 59-year-old added: “This photo was taken last September and I was particularly taken by the interesting lines of the church from this unusual angle.
“After this recognition, I plan to focus some time on my photography, as well as continuing my passion as an amateur artist.”
Yellow Pages has been running an advertising campaign to find the most iconic images from cities across the country.
Zandra Ives, head of advertising for Yellow Pages, said Mrs Angus’ photo had struck the judges.
“We chose Sue’s winning photo because it really stood out as an original but recognisable image of Wolverhampton and its history,” she said.
