£1m Staffordshire Hoard total is passed

The campaign to keep the Staffordshire Hoard in the Midlands has raised more than £1 million towards its £3.3 million total, it was announced today.
The Art Fund, which is spearheading the appeal to acquire the treasure for Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke, has until April 17 to raise the cash.
So far, the fund total is £1,080,000, seven weeks into the campaign.
Of this, almost £500,000 has come from the public.
