City drug haul of £160,000

Thursday 25th February 2010, 10:36PM GMT.

A 37-year-old man from Vietnam was helping police with inquiries today after police discovered a £160,000 drugs farm hidden in a Wolverhampton house.

Officers swooped on the property in Birmingham New Road, Lanesfield at about 8.30pm yesterday and found 400 cannabis plants growing in the loft.

A man was detained at the scene.

The move came hours after police unearthed a similarly sized drugs factory in an industrial unit in Park Lane, Cradley.

A warrant was issued to search the Lanesfield house after the landlord became suspicious during an earlier visit to the premises.

West Midlands Police spokesman Brigg Ford said today: “The landlord became suspicious when he went round and detected a strong smell after being prevented from going upstairs.”
