Bilston Leisure Centre was closed today due to a gas leak.

The problem was discovered in the supply pipe beneath the boiler house on Saturday and was immediately isolated, meaning the boilers used to heat the showers, water in the pool and the general heating around the building could not function.

It was decided to keep the fitness suite and squash areas open at the weekend, but today the air temperature dipped below 16C (60F) and the whole building was closed. Most of the facilities are expected to reopen by Wednesday or Thursday, although the pool is likely to be closed until Monday.
