Horses by hospital spur fear

Monday 1st February 2010, 10:23PM GMT.

Four horses spent the weekend grazing on land outside a Midland hospital sparking fresh concerns for motorists’ safety.

Residents living near Dudley’s Russells Hall Hospital in Pensnett Road said the four piebald horses first appeared on the grass verge early Saturday morning.

It comes just a week after a roaming horse was struck by a car in nearby Pensnett High Street.

Dudley Council and West Midlands Police are drawing up an urgent action plan to tackle the problem.

Concerned motorists slowed down as they drove past the site while others pulled over and attempted to move the animals.

The problem has continued to blight the borough. Last week three horses were grazing on playing fields at Brook Primary School, Wordsley.
