Raiders pounce twice in one day
Friday 29th January 2010, 6:15PM GMT.
A gang targeting fast food restaurants across Dudley struck twice today, stealing £2,000 in one smash and grab raid.
Four outlets have been targeted this week and detectives say they are linking the raids.
In the latest attack, cash was stolen from the safe at the McDonald’s, Park Road, Halesowen. Staff discovered the break-in when they arrived for work at 6am.
At around 2am, two white males kicked down the door at KFC, in Wolverhampton Street, Dudley.
Masked raiders forced open the drive-through windows at KFC, Merry Hill, on Wednesday, and at McDonald’s, Ivyhouse Lane, Coseley, on Tuesday.
Acting Det Chief Insp Richard Jones said: “We are reviewing CCTV and getting in touch with area managers for fast food restaurants to advise them.”
Anyone with information about the raids is asked to call police on 0845 113 5000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
