Binman crushed by lorry

Friday 29th January 2010, 6:15PM GMT.

A binman was crushed by a lorry while on his rounds in Kingswinford.

Police said a man in his 20s was injured in Granville Drive when a tipper reversed into him.

Dudley Council confirmed a worker was injured in the course of his duties and has launched an investigation.

Both the man’s legs were severely crushed and he suffered a hip injury in the incident at 1.18pm yesterday.

Police are treating the incident as an accident.

Jamie Bisseker, aged 34, was laying a new drive when the accident happened. “I heard a man screaming, he was lying in the road when I came to have a look,” Mr Bisseker, of Old Hill, said.

Father-of-two Paul Hughes, 56, said the recycling lorry was collecting bottles and newspapers.
