Migrant pair admit drug farm charge

Saturday 16th January 2010, 10:55AM GMT.

Two illegal immigrants were discovered with more than 350 cannabis plants worth in excess of £100,000 at their rented home in the Black Country.

Police uncovered the haul in several rooms at Gough Street, Willenhall. Albanians Fatmir Marku and Albert Bashaj pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of cannabis when they appeared before Walsall magistrates yesterday.

Mr Jason Corden-Bowen, prosecuting, said: “The majority of it was being used for the production of cannabis. The upstairs has three bedrooms which were all full of mature cannabis plants.

“A total of 116 plants were recovered from upstairs. Downstairs the kitchen was full of 250 immature cannabis plants.”

Bashaj, aged 24, and Marku, 22, were remanded in custody for sentence at Wolverhampton crown court on February 12.
