Police have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses to a crash involving a car and an ambulance in Lichfield in which a woman was killed.
Wendy Williams, aged 60, the driver of a Ford Ka, died in the collision which happened at around 3.15pm on December 23 at the junction of the A51 Tamworth Road and Quarry Hills Lane. Police investigating the collision are appealing for information from anyone who saw the ambulance.
It was travelling along Upper St John Street from the city centre towards the junction where the collision happened.
Officers are also keen to hear from any witnesses who may have information about the movement of the two vehicles at the crash scene.
“A number of witnesses have come forward but we are still keen to hear from anyone else who may have seen the ambulance in the minutes before the collision as it travelled along Upper St John Street,” said investigating officer, Sgt Shaun Stanton.
“We are also appealing for information from anyone who saw the two vehicles in the vicinity of the junction immediately before the collision.”
Mrs Williams, of Water Orton Road, Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Her passenger Norma Bates, aged 72, also of Water Orton Road, was treated in Selly Oak Hospital after being airlifted after the accident.
The 32-year-old paramedic who was driving the ambulance was treated in Stafford Hospital for chest and abdominal injuries. He was discharged the same day.
An internal investigation into the cause of the crash has been launched by West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Mrs Williams was visiting one of her two daughters who lives in Lichfield when the accident happened.
She left a husband Terry and daughters, Claire and Lucy.
