A 30-year-old woman has been selected as the Labour Party's candidate for Wolverhampton North East at the next General Election, it was announced today.

Emma Reynolds, currently one of Cabinet minister Geoff Hoon's aides, is hoping to step into MP Ken Purchase's shoes when he retires.

She attended Codsall High School and Wulfrun College, before reading politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford University.
