Workers were today making their final preparations to Bilston Town Football Club's pitch ahead of the team's first home match at the ground in more than a year.

The bright white lines are being painted around the pitch and the goalposts are carefully being hoisted into position ready for the team to take to the pitch this afternoon.

Hundreds of fans are expected to flood through the gates of the newly-refurbished ground in Queen Street to see the team take on Riverside FC in division one of the West Midlands League. Despite recently signing a new 99-year-lease at the ground, the club's home-coming has been marred by setbacks. But league bosses finally gave the go ahead on Thursday night.

Chairman Alan Owen said he was "over the moon" that the club would finally be playing back at home.
