its a total disgrace how much we are having to pay for fuel, and what makes it worse is the condition of the roads, the M6 around junction 6 is having repairs done yet again. the government are taking the p**s, we get hammered on fuel, on road tax and now road pricing. its heading back to the sheriff of nottingham days, lets hit you for as much as we can and as often as we can. where are the fuel protesters who kicked up a fuss when fuel hit 85p a litre?

There’s a garage just off the Willenhall Road near Horsely Fields selling multi-fuel diesel for 79p a litre. Its mostly re-cycled cooking oil but it works great in most older Diesels (like any Rover other than the 75). However, for the majority with newer Common Rail diesel engines might die using this fuel as its thicker than normal diesel.

Mr. Popovitch, do you ever agree with anything any one ever says? Or do you read other peoples comments and just think of as many ways as possible to disagree and insult everyone?

The principal reason why petrol and diesel in the UK are so expensive is not entirely because of supply and demand. Its mainly due to the emense fuel duty placed on it by the UK government. If it were purely down to supply and demand, everyone in the world would be paying over £1 per litre.

As you rightly point out though, there is most likely a link between car use and obesity. However, not everyone who drives a car is lazy and fat.

Maybe you should take your own advice and stop reading such depressing and silly newspapers as the Express and Star as you pointed out to everyone who commented on the Immigration story.

There is a Service Station in Sedgley on the Gospel End Road that seems to change its prices hourly, one morning you drive past its 99.9p for Unleaded and 100.9p for Diesel, then in the afternoon it has risen to 104.0p for Diesel. I think this service station is pathetic, and anyone who lives around there should boycott it as surely they cannot get away with changing the prices so much

Fuel at the BP garage on Neachells Lane, Wolves is a shocking 1.04 for diesel!!!! I paid 99p in Stafford this morning – that was at the tesco garage on the 449 near Rising Brook.

Hmmmm….maybe the government should take fuel tax off petrol and diesel.
Though we’d all end up paying £4K road tax or something to make the money up.
I love how the government go on about hitting 4x4s and large cars with extra charges yet they tend to pay more in fuel tax than most.

The only reason prices were changed many years ago, to be quoted per litre, was to get away with larger increases.

Always wondered when it would hit £1 a litre. Inevitable. At leasts it now slightly easier to work out the price per gallon, ie 4.54 x 100p.

US gallon = 3.8 litres, current price is around $2.99 a gallon, making 1 litre = 78cents. So at an xrate of 2.10 thats roughly 37p a litre in the USA.

Think we’re being totally ripped off?

Cost of motoring is still artificially cheap. Andrew Popovitch is also spot on.

Instead of moaning about the rising price of fuel, find other means of travel. Alternatively drive at a slightly slower speed, which will use less fuel. My car returns 10mpg (at least) more when doing 60mph vs 70mph on the motorway.

I’d suggest a lot of the people moaning probably don’t drive particularly efficient motors, and like to drive at 90 on the motorway…

Martin – if there wasn’t so much (or any) tax on fuel, the tax would have to be put on other things.
£4k road tax anyone? How about simply increasing income tax so every taxpayer pays, not just those using vehicles?

Other taxes are actually pretty low compared to other affluent nations.

There are two words called “supply” and “demand”. We’ve gone past the point where we’re finding more reserves (running out of supply) and yet we’re still driving and flying (increasing demand).

The result is rising cost of oil. It’s really not surprising, and is very, very easy to understand.

Rather than ranting and raving, why don’t you try and save money by a) walking b) cycling c) moving closer to where you work or even d) setting up a car pool

I think it is disgusting how much petrol & diesel costs the working man is getting hit in the pocket again, England is the only country that pay over £1 per litre of fuel why cause we are rip off Britain!!!!!! Diesel is 109.9 per litre in Middlewich.
