Historic Mount Hotel is sold off

The Mount Hotel Wolverhampton’s historic Mount Hotel – built for the Mander family – has been sold in a multi-million pound deal.

The new owner is Blue Cedar’s Leisure run by businessman Ashok Sharma, of Finchfield, Wolverhampton, who is moving into the hotels arena after the recent sale of his successful care homes business.

Mike Ward, of Bulleys Chartered Surveyors, handled the deal for Mr Sharma aided by David Hughes of Wolverhampton solicitors Manby & Steward.

Mr Ward said today: “We contacted the Signature Group, which owned the Mount Hotel, and asked if they were open to an offer. They were, and the deal was finally signed on Friday.”

The Mount Hotel & Conference Centre in Tettenhall Wood is a Grade II listed building built in 1865 for Sir Charles Mander.

The three-star hotel, set in four acres of gardens and ornamental woodland, was extended in 1891 and now has 68 bedrooms. It employs between 25 and 30 people.
