The famous Italian marque will be releasing its new Giulia sporting family saloon next year but we may have to wait until September before the replacement for the 159 saloon makes an appearance in showrooms. Alfa Romeo promises a huge leap in terms of quality and performance. Expect Giulia prices to begin at around £24,000.

Next up is the Abarth 500X priced from about £22,000. It's the ultra sporty version of the Fiat 500X crossover, but with Abarth being a separate upmarket brand these days, Fiat don't like you to shout that out too loudly!

It's styling previewed by the exclusive limited edition DB10 in the James Bond movie, Spectre, Aston Martin's eagerly-awaited DB11 will be on sale later in 2016. It replaces the beautiful but long in the tooth DB9, and if anything, it's even more stunning than its predecessor.

Staying with the 'A's Audi is to follow up its impressive new A4 with a completely new A5 priced from about £30,000. On sale from September, its sleeker and will at first appear in two-door coupe form before the more convenient five-door Sportback goes on sale.

We move onto the 'B's now with BMW's new 5 Series which will arrive in the summer with improved efficiency, sleeker design, enhanced connectivity and a state-of-the-art chassis. This all-new model priced from around £32,000!

Jumping to the 'D's, we are gaining a more efficient Dacia Duster with cleaner and more frugal engines. Dacia have enjoyed huge success here in the UK and with prices for its capable Duster crossover starting at around £9,000 that's hardly surprising.

Fiat is to bring back the 'Tipo' name but this time in the form of a new hatch and estate available with 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol engines along with 1.3 and 1.6-litre diesels. Expect prices to start at less than £15,000s.

Ford is to release its new Edge made in the US. Ford sees it as a budget Audi Q5 or BMW X3. It looks good and it should be as it's based on the new Mondeo. Prices will start at around £30,000 and it'll be on sale.Look out too, for a new Ranger pick-up and Ford GT priced from £250,000!

Let's get a little more down to earth now with Hyundai's compact i20 Active, with raised ride height and an off-road look. It's not available in 4x4 form though, but could be a hit for the fast-rising Korean manufacturer, as it share the same talents of its excellent i20 sibling and is affordably priced at about £13,000.

Infiniti releases its first British-built model in the spring priced from around £27,000. The QX30 crossover certainly look the business, it's bound to be utterly reliable and well-built. It's set to compete against BMW's X1 and Audi Q3.

Kia's new Sportage will be on sale in the spring priced from around £18,000. This new generation Sportage is set to sell as strongly as its talented predecessor. It'll be more refined while overall quality is enhanced, too.

Land Rover will be busy with product launches too with the new Discovery 5 on its way following the release of the Discovery Sport during 2015 with which it shares much of its styling.

It'll be available later in 2016 priced from around £45,000. Land Rover will also let us have a glance at the design of its new Defender too.

Maserati's new Levante is set to be released during the summer. Priced from approximately £40,000, this dramatically-styled SUV will compete head on with Jaguar's F-Pace and the Porsche Cayenne. There could even be a petrol-electric hybrid version on sale in 2017!

The new 540C is part of the McLaren's Sports Series and being the 'base' model, it'll be the least expensive car that it offers at around £126,000. The car will be first-rate though, and with a zero to 62 time of 3.5 second and a top speed of 199mph, extremely fast!

The entry-level McLaren Sport Series will still be blisteringly fast

MG will be bringing us the unusually-shaped but attractive MG GS mid-sized crossover it badly needs to boost sales. It'll go up against Honda's CR-V, but at about £18,000, it'll be considerably less expensive.

At long last, Mitsubishi's ancient Shogun is to be replaced after a decade on sale. The market has changed considerably over that period so this new generation model will be plusher, better to drive and more refined. It'll be on sale late next year with prices beginning at £28,000.

Nissan brings us its Pulsar Nismo, a sporting version of its Pulsar hatchback, which it hopes will compete effectively with Ford's Focus ST. At around £23,000 it'll undercut most of its most popular rivals price wise. At the other end of the scale Nissan is set to introduce a new Micra too next summer, priced from about £11,000.

Peugeot's 308 R Hybrid is launched late next year priced from an estimated £35,000. Developed by Peugeot Sport, this four-wheel drive 493bhp plug-in hybrid will apparently reach 62mph from standstill in less than four seconds. Yet it emits just 70g/km of CO2!

Toyota will present us with an all-new Prius next spring. With angular styling it'll follow close in the wheel tracks of its predecessor to become a leader in its class. What's more, if rumours are correct, it's likely to be able to achieve as much as 90mpg and emit just 70g/km of CO2 emissions.

At around £22,000 Vauxhall's all-new Zafira seven-seater MPV will go on sale late next year, and it won't be a moment too soon. Its elderly predecessor is no longer on sale and if buyers want a mid-sized people carrier they currently must step up to the larger Zafira Tourer. Vauxhall also promise us the Astra GSI priced from around £22,000 available early next year.

Volkswagen's new Tiguan compact SUV replaces the current model in the first half of 2016. It'll be 60mm longer and 33mm lower which will enhance its look. There's set to be a GTE plug-in hybrid model too.

Finally Volvo will bring us the Volvo S90 late next year. The S80 saloon was rather long in the tooth, but with much more interior space the new S90 is set to be far more competitive. It'll be a great deal better to drive too. A T8 plug-in hybrid version will cut emissions down to just 50g/km.

There we go. We said there was much to look forward to in 2016 so make sure you visit the dealer showroom and explore what's available. You'll be glad you did!
