Rugeley named as a property sales hotspot

Rugeley is one of the UK’s top property hotspots of 2011 with sales up by 30 per cent in the first six months of the year, new figures revealed today. The town outperformed most of the rest of the country.

Rugeley, in Cannock Chase, recorded the third highest hike in residential property sales according to a survey by Halifax.

It is welcome news for the West Midlands which often lags behind in property sale and price reports.

The substantial increase in home sales in Rugeley has been driven by a rise in the level of activity at the lower and middle end of the housing market.

Only the northern towns of Bury and Leigh, both in Greater Manchester, recorded more sales between January and July.
