Homes of the Week – Maple Hayes Estate
Friday 30th September 2011, 11:29AM BST.
A huge Staffordshire estate has gone up for sale with a guide price of £2.3 million.
The Maple Hayes Estate, which spreads over 357 acres to the west of Lichfield, is being sold by a family that has owned it since 1950.
The estate, which comprises of two let farms, woodland, allotments, a pony paddock and semi-detached house subject to tenancy, has already attracted a lot of attentions.
Fisher German, who are marketing the estate, say the land offers good development prospects.
John Palmer, who helps manage the estate said the Latham family had made the decision to sell it as no members of the family live there and decided someone else could make a good investment with it.
“The family’s father bought it in the 1950s as an investment property and they have realised some of the development potential of the site.
But the family are now all in their 60s and feel that it’s the right time to dispose of it. They all live out of the the county.
“It is a very good opportunity for someone wanting to buy an investment property. It provides them with a good income for development, but there is potential for the long term to develop some of the land for residential or commercial use,” he said.
The land is up for sale by private treaty as a whole or in up to 10 lots.
Mr Palmer said there had been a lot of interest in the land, which has been up for sale this month, and will be available until the middle-to-end of October.
