Part two of Walsall transformation under way
Friday 18th February 2011, 1:52PM GMT.
The second phase of the multi-million pound transformation of Walsall Waterfront to create more than 150 new apartments is now under way.
The first signs of the redevelopment have started to spring up as the next set of homes are to be built off Wolverhampton Street during the next 15 months.
It comes as the first stage of the £65 million Waterfront South scheme nears completion on time despite poor winter weather — with the first homes expected to be finished by the end of next month.
A total of 164 apartments are planned for the second phase and will be split into two blocks. They are expected to be finished around the middle of 2012.
Ian Jackson, from developers Jessups, said: “It is going to give Walsall a whole new quarter.
“It will allow people to live in the centre of the town.”
