New images have been unveiled of how a £4million housing development planned for Dudley would look if full permission is granted and certain conditions are met.

Bromsgrove-based WM Housing wants permission for 22 homes and a 14-bed sheltered accommodation unit in Middlepark Road on the Russells Hall estate.

Midland Heart is already building a £4.5 million retirement village a short distance from the proposed new development site.

The latest plans are due to go before Dudley Council’s development control committee on Monday and have been recommended for approval subject to a number of conditions.

Dudley Council spokeswoman Vikki Marshall said: “The development will provide bungalow accommodation for older people, new houses for people with general housing need and temporary accommodation for families waiting to be re-housed.”

“WM Housing Group has been awarded £2.1 million by the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency to build a new supported, sheltered housing scheme on Russells Hall and WM Housing Group will be contributing £1.9m of their own reserves.”

The land is designated as a site of local importance of nature conservation as well as a housing development.

Documents due to go before council planners on Monday night’s meeting states the applicant has agreed to make a financial contribution of £40,000 towards the improvements to the Fens Pool / Barrow Hill nature reserve .”

One letter of objection has been lodged with the council over the proposals, which claims the site of new homes could raise problems with privacy for existing residents.
