Tenants snap up Walsall housing
Friday 31st December 2010, 1:20PM GMT.
Newly completed homes on the site of a former Walsall pub were snapped up by tenants just in time for Christmas.
Almost all 60 apartments in Parsons House built for residents aged over 55 have been allocated.
The Churchill Road complex has replaced the derelict Old Hall Pub which was bulldozed in 2007 after it was destroyed in a suspected arson attack.
It is the final part of a 130 new homes scheme developed by Walsall Housing Group under a £16 million investment programme in Bentley.
The work was completed on schedule by builder Frank Haslam Milan last month and since then 45 of the two bedroom flats taken by tenants who had previously lived in nearby family houses.
