Two jobs fairs held in Cannock and Rugeley have helped 35 people find employment while 60 have registered for apprenticeships.

It means around one in 10 of those who attended the two events have enhanced their career prospects.

More than 600 people flocked to the jobs fairs. Amazon was among the firms looking for staff as it recruited for its 700,000 sq ft distribution centre at Towers Park, Rugeley, which opened last month. It emerged this week up to 1,700 temporary Christmas jobs were up for grabs.

The move will add to Amazon’s permanent payroll of 400.

The fairs were held at South Staffordshire College’s Cannock campus on September 23 and Rugeley Rose Theatre on September 29. They were organised by Cannock Chase MP Aidan Burley.
