Businesses who work with Staffordshire County Council are being urged to create dozens more apprenticeships.

The council is holding the second of two events with the Aspire Group to encourage small and medium sized businesses across the county to recruit apprentices.

The first event in May has already led to the creation of 53 apprenticeships by the 50 companies who attended the meeting of suppliers at the Moat House Hotel, Acton Trussell, near Stafford.

The second one is expected to be attended by 100 people representing nearly 80 companies, at the same venue tomorrow.

The apprentices are provided by training companies PM Training and Indigo Training, which are both part of the Aspire Group’s social enterprise arm Enterprising Futures.

The two training providers work with around 600 companies across Staffordshire and they provide more than 1,000 learning opportunities a year, with more than 70 per cent of learners going on to a job.
