Walsall nightclub refurbishments to bring jobs
Monday 17th January 2011, 12:00PM GMT.
Around 50 jobs are set to be created in a Black Country town centre following the refurbishment of two popular nightclubs.
Insomnia and WS1 in Walsall are both to be given overhauls worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Insomnia has already closed its doors for its revamp, which will create more than 20 jobs.
The full refurbishment of WS1 will follow and create an extra 30 jobs.
Nick Parkinson, from Utopia Clubs Ltd, said Insomnia in Bradford Place would reopen with a new name and completely new look.
“The doors are now closed and the construction work is well under way,” he said.
“It has been open for the last four years as Insomnia and is Best Bar None accredited.
“It closed down on New Year’s Eve for a major refurbishment with the hope of creating more than 20 jobs in Walsall town centre.”
The walls, ceilings and floors in Insomnia have now been stripped and the construction work is being carried out at pace.
The revamp will be followed by the overhaul of Insomnia’s sister club WS1 in Bridge Street.
Mr Parkinson, who is also general manager of WS1 said: “The following project should add an extra 30 jobs to Walsall town centre as well as keep existing staff.”
