Help for unemployed people at jobs fair

Thursday 28th October 2010, 12:05PM BST.

Unemployed people looking for a way into work were able to receive advice during a jobs and training fair at a Black Country college.

The day-long event at Walsall College’s Wisemore Campus yesterday allowed those seeking a new career to learn more about courses and job vacancies.

People who went on campus were able to view the latest job vacancies including opportunities from Clamoore Home Based Care, Complete Care, Jobcentre Plus and new apprenticeships.

It took place from 11am until 8pm.

Representatives from Walsall College and businesses were on hand to help people with advice and guidance. There was also a chance for people to learn about courses that are available.

Among those to attend was Sean Howarth, aged 19, of Burntwood, who previously worked in a factory and is now seeking employment.

He said: “I am looking for a career.

“I wanted to see what is around and if I can get a job. It is frustrating being out of work. This is the first event I have been to and I have found it very helpful.
