Are job opportunities increasing for James?

I was glad to hear that my fellow job-seeking blogger Ioana Lazarov has managed to fulfil her dream of a full time job in the mental health and social care sector writes James Alexander.

Whilst there has been a lot of doom and gloom about cuts to the economy with the Comprehensive Spending Review this week, it has to be said there does seem to be more jobs available and maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I missed out on the last interview I had, but this time it was more for technical reasons and, encouragingly, I have two more interviews lined up this week with the same firm.

There seems to be more jobs advertised in the newspapers and online than there had been for a good long while, and recruitment agencies I’ve spoken to are sounding much more confident about finding work for me.

I have criticised recruitment agencies in the past, so thus it’s only fair that I give praise when it’s due.

I have been speaking to two recently, who specialise in sales recruitment, and they have given me a lot of help and support in trying to find a job.

It’s made a pleasant change to speak to a recruitment consultant who understands what I’m looking for and has actively tried to help me overcome potential objections from employers and to better promote my strengths.

I understand a lot of people are really worried about what is going to happen with the cuts that the Government are going to put into place; whilst I too am concerned about the future, I also think it’s important that we give the economy a chance to recover.

It’s easy to feel downcast and worried about what is going to happen, but worrying doesn’t achieve much.

There are opportunities available at the moment and if you are concerned about your job security, then now is the time to ensure that your CV is in order and that you’re ready to seize the day.
