Some of the Black Country’s most dangerous roads can be revealed today – with accident blackspots in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley contributing to thousands of crashes across the region.
In total, 18 people have lost their lives in road accidents on routes throughout the Black Country between June last year and this May.
The West Midlands Casualty Reduction Scheme data reveals that drivers and cyclists are more likely to have an accident on a Friday than any other day. And out of 2,042 incidents, 1,707 of the casualties were men while 1,176 were women.
Sandwell had the most road accidents in the Black Country. The borough had 605 collisions, nine of which were fatal.
There were 14 crashes on Wolverhampton Road at Oldbury and 10 on the Black Country New Road. A fatal crash took place in November in Church Lane, West Bromwich, when a 42-year-old woman died after a collision with a school bus.
