Classic cars in action at Hednesford Hills Raceway

A popular annual racing event – involving a wide range of classic cars – is taking place at Hednesford Hills Raceway this weekend and set to attract drivers and car enthusiasts from across the country.
The Pre-68 Classic Banger Day takes place for the 19th year in a row on Sunday.
More than 100 cars are set to take their final ride to the scrapyard at the Cannock Chase oval, and every one of them will be from 1968 or earlier and still running on its original or age related engine.
Drivers from all over the country will be in attendance, and many of them will have spent many months preparing their vintage motors for the final few laps of their long lives.
Two classes of Bangers will be in action, with the smaller cars consisting mostly of Austin A60s, Hillmans and similar 1960s classics. The big class will see plenty of Jaguars, Rovers and Daimlers in crash action.
The Heritage Formula 2 Stock Cars will also take to the raceway in a relatively rare appearance on the UK’s fastest short oval.
There will be the annual parade of classic road cars, with trophies available for the best cars on show.
The gates open at around 10am, with action getting underway at 1.30pm. Admission is £13 for adults, £10 for senior citizens and £6 for children, with family tickets for £35. For details call 0121 357 7328.
