Jaguar E-Type restored to former glory
Thursday 5th May 2011, 11:45AM BST.
One of the most important and valuable Jaguar cars ever built was being unveiled in Bridgnorth today after 7,000 hours of restoration.
The only factory-built Low Drag Lightweight E-type has been put back together in one of the most complex restorations ever, and is now thought to be worth around £5 million.
When it crashed at the Montlhery circuit near Paris in 1964, killing driver Peter Lindner, the car was so badly mangled that a complete restoration was thought to be impossible.
Now, 47 years later, it has been returned to its former glory following a painstaking restoration which used more than 90 per cent of the original parts.
The restoration was started four years ago by Peter Neumark through his Bridgnorth-based Classic Motor Car business.
