Concept Cars – Top ten of 2010
Tuesday 21st December 2010, 8:30AM GMT.
3. Extra Terrestrial Vehicle:
The Extra Terrestrial Vehicle looks out of this world but is actually the product of a Florida-based car customisation company.
A humble Chevrolet Aveo was stripped of its body and doors, which were replaced by a futuristic 'shell' structure with gull-wing doors.
The ETV will turn far more heads than an Aveo - and still return 40mpg too.
Concept cars at motor shows tend to come in two flavours.
There are ‘teasers’ – models which are clearly close to their final form; then there are outlandishly-shaped ‘pleasers’ which wow the crowds but are unlikely to ever make it into production.
The latter are generally the more interesting and 2010 has produced a good crop of radical designs.
While you can usually rely on the French and Japanese to come up with outrageous offerings, this year it’s a rather more surprising name that takes the crown with a Los Angeles Design Challenge entry that stunned everyone with its revolutionary approach.
