Jaguar C-X75 200mph electric supercar unveiled
Thursday 30th September 2010, 2:22PM BST.
Jaguar today revealed a sensational 200mph electric concept supercar which is set to take the Paris Motor Show by storm.
Built to celebrate the West Midlands firm’s 75th anniversary, the C-X75 blends dramatic looks with awesome performance and a range of 560 miles, around five times the distance most electric cars can travel before recharging.
The latest Big Cat has a state-of-the art power system with four electric motors at each wheel developing a total of 780bhp. This results in a top speed of 205mph.
While the car can run for 68 miles in full electric mode, it needs the power generated by its onboard gas turbines to extend its range to above 500 miles.
The turbines were developed by Shropshire-based Bladon Jets, a pioneering engineering company which signed a development deal with Jaguar last year.
The firm was set up in 2002 by motorcycle race engine builders Chris and Paul Bladon and is based near Whitchurch.
Jaguar has no plans to put the car into production but will be closely monitoring the reaction of show goers.
Land Rover is showcasing its long-awaited Range Rover Evoque, while MINI has produced an interesting scooter for the Paris event.
