First glimpse of McLaren MP4 12C
Tuesday 14th September 2010, 2:00PM BST.
West Midlands sports car fans were given their first glimpse of the British-built supercar that promises to give the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini a run for their money.
The McLaren MP4 12C was unveiled at a launch party for 100 guests at the Compton Verney art gallery in Warwickshire.

McLaren has used its extensive Formula1 expertise to create the 12C road car, which is expected to cost in excess of £160,000 when it goes on sale in the spring.
The silver-grey car on show at the gallery is a prototype but essentially the finished article.
Three dealerships nationally will get the chance to sell the car, including Birmingham-based Rybrook in the Midlands, which has already dealt with a string of inquiries from wealthy sports car enthusiasts.
The dealership will be headed up by Mike Buffey, who has been franchise director for Rybrook’s West Midlands-based BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce businesses for many years and has also worked with the firm’s Bentley franchise. He said: “The car is fantastic and it’s British too.”
Mr Buffey revealed there had been already more than 50 ‘strong expressions of interest’ from prospective customers.
Although the dealership is called McLaren Birmingham it will not be in the city centre, as many prestige brand customers prefer rural showrooms. Therefore a former Jaguar dealership site in Hockley Heath has been chosen.
Rybrook is building a £4.5 million showroom on the Stratford Road site where it will also sell Rolls-Royces.
Mr Buffey said: “This car is simply superb and is going to give Ferrari and Lamborghini a real run for their money.”
