Britney Spears – Femme Fatale

Friday 25th March 2011, 12:48PM GMT.

We’ve been there through the heartbreaks and hang-ups, watched her very public growing up and observed the near meltdowns of 2007. From Mickey Mouse club to sex symbol, from single mum to hospital case; we’ve been there and seen that.

Britney Spears - Femme FataleHappily, the focus can turn once more to Britney’s music for this, her seventh studio album. Executive producers Max Martin and Dr Luke have given her a deeper, electronic sound and other collaborates include will.i.am, Fraser T Shmith and Shellback.

Lead single Hold It Against Me is indicative of the Europoean-electro style of her latest work. This follow-up Britney’s aptly-named predecessor, Circus, marks the latest stage of her reinvention. In truth, it’s not a game-changing release from her. She’s unlikely to change the shifting tide of contemporary pop with this collection of nu-feminist tunes.

However, dubstep-inspired songs like Hold It Against Me and stadium-sized party anthems like Til The World Ends are impressive all the same. After a spell on the sidelines, Britney has rediscovered her mojo.
